Dennis was the keynote speaker at the 2008 Khe Sanh Veterans memorial service in Reno, Nevada. He shared about his own personal experiences at KheSanh and the redemption he discovered in the years that followed.
This was a tough audience. Dennis was able to connect with them in an open and transparent way. There were around 120 men in the service plus 80 wives. Most of the time, you could have literally heard a pin drop. Click here to read the testimonial from the Khe Sahn Chaplain. |

Reading from Edward Murphy’s account of the beginning of the Hill Fights; he speaks of Bravo Co. 1/9 on April 26th ’67 like this:
 |
Lt. Carters’ 1st platoon had the point...Staff Sargent Burns' 2nd platoon was in the center...an automatic weapon on a nearby hillside spat out several bursts of fire...the heavy slugs tore into the first platoon; wounding 5...including Carter...Seconds later the enemy fire raked the entire column...2 men in S/Sgts Burns platoon went down...Sgt. Kenneth Norton was nearly cut in half by a machine gun burst.
Another man, Lance Corporal Puleo took the enemy gun under fire with his M-60. He killed 3 NVA before all the others turned their fire upon him. In an instant Puleo took 3 hits and his M-60 was blown away. |
